Vaccination

Today Pranav and his friend Anvesha were taken for their vaccinations. The doc came late so we had to wait for around two hours at the medical centre. We didn't mind because the kids were having a good time playing with each other and Vishakha and I were having a good time gossiping and catching up with each other.

I had prepped Kunju beforehand so he knew he'd be injected. Although he wasn't too happy about the thought of it, he knew he wouldn't have a choice. Anvesha wasn't told about the injection earlier, so she cried and cried and cried when and after she was pricked. The doc was such a sweetheart - he made her sing along with him and tried to cheer her up as much as he could, but wasn't really successful.

Next was Kunju's turn. The nurse tried her best to scare him by saying, ab teri baari hai rone kaa. I was like wtf! Here I was, trying to convince him that it wouldn't hurt much and how dare she!!
He was really scared but put up a brave front and asked the doc if he could sit rather than lie down.

The doc made him lie down, commented about his Mickey mouse underwear, and injected him on his right thigh, while making him sing "one two buckle my shoe". He trembled while singing, bit his lips, but my brave little darling didn't shed a tear. The doc told me that he was brave but it might hurt him later on and prescribed Ibugesic syrup.

Anvesha was still crying when she left. The sight of her saying bye to us amidst her tears broke my heart. But Kunju was all smiles. I told him while walking back home that it was ok to cry if he felt like and there was no need to suppress it. He told me that although it hurt him, he didn't feel like crying. They grow up too fast, don't they!
