Wishes

I am someone who believes in magic and this whole Paulo Coelho theory that if you wish for something with all your heart it will come true. Of course, I know one needs to work hard towards it for a wish to give any fruitful result, but I also like to believe in shooting stars and fallen eye-lashes!

So I was trying to pass on these crazy fantasies to Kunju as well. He already knows about shooting stars but has not seen one yet. So one day when I saw a fallen eye-lash on his right cheek, I told him that if he kept it on his fist, closed his eyes, wished for something and blew it away, the wish would come true.

He was so thrilled! I will never forget that excited look on his face when I told him that. (അമ്മേടെ മോൻ തന്നെ - ഞാൻ വിചാരിച്ചു. ഓസിന് കാര്യം നടക്കും എന്നറിഞ്ഞപ്പോ എന്തൊരു സന്തോഷം!) I kept his eye-lash on his fist, and told him to close his eyes and make a wish. He mumbled something (I heard Ambotti) and blew it away. After opening his eyes and checking if it had got blown away, he told me excitedly before I could tell him to keep it as a secret, "ഞാൻ എന്താ വിഷ് ചെയ്തേന്നു പറയട്ടേ? എനിക്ക് അമ്പോറ്റിക്കണ്ണനെ കാണാൻ പറ്റണേ ന്ന്!" I was delightfully amused. Such innocence! ഇവന് ഇങ്ങനെ ഒക്കെ ആഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ടോ?

When this happened the next time, his wish melted my heart. "എനിക്ക് എന്നും അമ്മേടടുത്ത് ഇരിക്കാൻ പറ്റണേന്നാ ഞാൻ വിഷ് ചെയ്തേ .." കെട്ടിപിടിച്ചു കുറെ ഉമ്മ കൊടുത്തു. :)

I was rolling on the floor laughing and at the same time blown away with surprise when he told me his third wish after a few days "എനിക്ക് അമ്മേടെ അത്രേം നന്നായിട്ടു പാട്ടു പാടാൻ പറ്റണേ ന്ന് ."

ഈശ്വരാ എന്തൊരു വല്യ responsibility on my shoulders! I have not skipped a single paattu class after that!

I wish this innocence and spontaneity and love stay with him forever. നടക്കുമോന്നു അറിയില്ല. But next time I get an eye-lash this is what I am surely going to wish for!
